Curriculum: Physical Education and Sport

PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

All students in Years 7 through to Year 10 are involved in the school’s multi-activity Physical Education program. The activities undertaken are both team-based ball sports and individual sports.

The four-year program aims to promote the student’s development in the following areas:

Fundamental Motor Skills: all classes involve skill rehearsal sessions to promote specific sports techniques and general motor skill development.

Safe Game Play and Tactics: all instruction is aimed at promoting the cognitive development of the student and the knowledge of how to apply skills to a game situation.

Sportsmanship and competition: all students are exposed to modified game situations which aim to maximise participation in a safe and positive learning environment.

SPORTS PROGRAM

Mary MacKillop College involves students in the following levels of competitions and events.

 

Interhouse Competitions- Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country.

 

Interschool Competition

Mary MacKillop College is a founding member of the Gippsland Independent Schools Association (GIS) and fields teams at the GIS Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country carnivals.

Students also compete in both the GIS summer and winter competitions. Mary MacKillop College fields teams in Cricket, Softball, Tennis, Basketball, Football, Soccer and Netball.
