Curriculum: Senior School - Years 11 & 12
| The nature of senior schooling is
undergoing rapid change. Retention rates at Year 11 & 12 have
increased to such an extent that schools can no longer offer a purely
academic or vocational program. Schools must engage senior students in a
variety of pathways that include the V.C.E., VCAL, V.E.TiS and New Apprenticeships.
Mary MacKillop College has responded to these challenges.
Specifically we have:
- Provided a team of teachers and co-ordinators to assist students in
choosing a course of study which meets their
individual needs. This team includes the
Senior School Co-ordinator and Careers Advisor, as well as Learning
Area Co-ordinators and subject teachers.
Formed partnerships with Central Gippsland Institute of T.A.F.E,
McMillan and V.C.A.H to offer TAFE/VET courses across a range of
areas.
Provided pathways in New Apprenticeships involving a combination of
schooling, T.A.F.E and employment.
VCE Mary MacKillop currently offers the following subjects covering
Units 1-4 of the VCE.
